am in South Africa and my study visa has expired. Can I be exempted from paying for medical aid?


You are not allowed to be in South Africa without valid documents unless you have submitted an application/ renewal and are awaiting Department of Home Affairs’ feedback on your application.

NB: In such an event, you have to remain compliant to the conditions of your expired permit, i.e. pay for medical aid if the expired permit was a study permit.
